 NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com)&#8212;Employers trimmed jobs from their payrolls in June for the sixth straight month, as the government&#8217;s closely watched report Thursday showed continued weakness in the labor market.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
The Labor Department reported a net loss of 62,000 jobs in the month. That matched the job loss figure for May, which was revised higher from 49,000. Economists surveyed by Briefing.com had forecast a loss of 60,000 jobs. 
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
The June number brought to 438,000 the number of jobs lost by the U.S. economy so far this year.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
The unemployment rate stayed at 5.5%. Economists had forecast the rate would come in at 5.4% in the latest reading.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
In a separate report, the department said initial claims for unemployment insurance rose 16,000 to 404,000 in the latest week. Economist Robert Brusca of FAO Economics said the reading over 400,000 is a &#8220;classic recession signal.&#8221;

      <description>&lt;p&gt;Helms was one of the most outspoken, controversial figures of his time. He was a hero of social and fiscal conservatives and many of his stands were considered bigoted and racists.

Even though he was fiscally conservative he protected tobacco subsidies and was a hero of the industry.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
Aside from his controversial stands socially his most important work might be considered his fervent anti communist stands and as chairman of the foreign relations committee he used his influence to fight communist all over the world.

How will we declare our independence when the power of the democratic majority inflict &#8220;a long train of abuses and usurpations&#8221; upon the individual?? As the number of people on the public dole reaches 50% and entire departments of government are established to dispense collected taxes and the proceeds of government debt to all forms of welfare recipients will we burden the producers of our great wealth to the point of collapse?
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
To me it is immoral to tax the producers for the benefit of the political powerful. This happens every day across our country and we see it here in Louisiana. We expand charity hospitals, create huge corporate welfare funds in the name of economic development, throw millions at failing public schools, and on and on. This is only compounded across the nation as we fund foreign wars, socialized medicine, farm welfare, and huge public assistance programs.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
We have an obligation to keep government small&#45;&#45;to promote individual freedom&#45;&#45;to stay out of the way of those who seek to better themselves by industrious labor and ingenious knowledge. Historically it is how we grew to be what we are. We should never, ever forget that and like the signers of the Declaration of Independence we must stand up to these subtle, sometimes short sighted, moves toward tyranny.

We must fight the &#8220;tyranny of the majority.&#8221;
