While many fans already equate LSU football with religion, the day also was Ash Wednesday and many fans came with ashes on their foreheads.
“LSU and Catholics,” said Ronnie Bourgeois of Baton Rouge. “The only bad thing is I can’t eat meat.”
“It’s a religious and a sports holiday today,” said Kent DeJean, of Baton Rouge, who has attended 12 of the 13 Bayou Bashes.
DeJean, who is popularly known as “EVIL TWIN” on LSU Internet sites, said his law office automatically knows he takes off of work on national signing day.
“It’s like Christmas today, because we get to open our packages,”
