Ours is not a repressive government you idiot.  Why do you think so many want to come here??

Perhaps you’d be happier under the liberty and freedoms afforded to it’s citizens by Russia, China, North Korean, Iran, Venezuela or Cuba??  I’ll chip in on your airplane ticket.

Let’s keep it that way.

The main stream media represses thought and information, whether purposeful or incidental.

The government and big business still seek to repress freedoms. All you have to do is read a newspaper like the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal for a week to see it.

I have been to many pother countries and know well our abundant liberties. I also see the government and big business attempting to invade privacy, repress freedom of choice and limit the spread of the truth.

The fight for liberty is eternal. It’s not something you get like a car but a continual effort.

Others people generally recognized as American patriots such as president Kennedy and Barry Goldwater have said that far better than I can, including many conservatives and liberals.

Other democracies and republics have rescinded into repression and tyranny. Let’s not let it happen here.

Fred you pay for half and I’ll pay the other half. Helll, I’ll even pay the upgrade fee if it means he’s leaving today.

Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.

It is the common fate of the indolent to see their rights become a prey to the active. The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt.—John Philpot Curran: Speech upon the Right of Election, 1790. (Speeches. Dublin, 1808.)

There is one safeguard known generally to the wise, which is an advantage and security to all, but especially to democracies as against despots. What is it? Distrust.—Demosthenes: Philippic 2, sect. 24.

“Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.”—Thomas Paine: The American Crisis, No. 4, 1777

Thomas Jefferson is also attributed with saying, “The Price of Liberty is Eternal Vigilance.”

I hope everyone has a great day. Hundreds of troops in Iraq re-enlisted today. I thank them for their service.

Yes, the troops on the front line, unlike the armchair quarterbacks, know our military is winning.  And is the best military in the world, the best the world has EVER known.

just because you can wave a flag does not mean everything you think is right and everybody else is wrong. you are entitled to your divisive views. you dont win anyone over with intimidation.

Right on.

Waving the flag is not a sure sign of patriotism. However a trip to some of the countries where people slowly surrendered their freedoms for the promise of security might bring a realization that the fight for liberty is eternal.

Ask the Germans what happened to their country when the party of Hitler waved flags, called for patriotism and promised security if they gave up their rights.

See what happens in Mexico where corrupt and incompetent governments have kept too many of their citizens in poverty.

A trip to North Korea shows people who profess patriotism while being repressed and deprived of their human rights.

Yes, it finally appears we may be winning in Iraq but at what cost? Was it worth it? For what? And what happens when we withdraw at some future date as the majority of Iraqi citizens want? Will chaos and anarchy return? And will the lives of our patriotic soldiers have been wasted?

In the meantime, it’s evident we are losing in Afghanistan and West Pakistan. The mastermind of the 9/11 attack is still free and plotting more mayhem against us. The Taliban are slowly taking over in the south, after hiding in Pakistan where our supposed ally Musharrif rules. Musharrif, like Putin and others, is a person that George Bush totally misread.

And it appears we’re going to have another four years without a true conservative as president.

And that’s not to be confused with the constant intimidation carried on by the liberals and the dimocrats.  I’m sure you don’t consider that intimidation.
