It isn’t enough that Legislators who voted for the pay raise say they were wrong. Now they want to take credit for Jindal’s veto too.

‘A huge mistake’
Rep. Tim Burns, R-Mandeville, has sent his constituents an e-mail message apologizing for voting for a base pay raise from $16,800 to $37,500. In his regular bulletin to supporters, Burns said the recent legislative pay raise “was a huge mistake by myself and the Legislature.” He told reporters that before the end of the legislative session, he and other lawmakers urged Gov. Bobby Jindal to reject the bill and “fully supported the governor’s veto of the measure.” He said although the base pay has not been adjusted in almost 30 years, “the manner in which (the bill) was passed and the extent and effective date of the salary adjustment reflected poorly on the Legislature.” Burns told his St. Tammany base to “remain involved because citizens input is vital to the process.” Burns is scheduled to hold a Town Hall meeting Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 3090 East Causeway Approach.
David Vitter has shown them all that no matter what you do, just tell them you are very sorry and all should be forgiven. If all else fails, just tell the voter`s
they have no choice but to vote for you because you are republican.
I would have had to beat Tim Burns, he was to popular then. Probably a better shot at winning but I fear the outcome would have been the same. Besides I didn’t have a problem with Tim Burns then.

My advice (not that it’s all that important or even good) would be to run for city or parish council and work your way up. I understand there’s some turmoil in Mandeville (I think that’s where you live).
Yes, the Mayor got himself in trouble. I believe he’ll just be the tip of the iceberg before it’s over.
All I know about Eddie Price is what my friends from Mandeville told me: that right after the Katrina he was the first person back in town, walking through water up to his friggin neck going house to house with a hand wrench shutting off people’s gas lines. What have you ever done for that community to justify your lofty political goals?

People need to tell the Mandeville story. How after the Storm, when the levees failed, how six feet of water swamped all of Mandeville, destroying much of the city. Perhaps 5,000 homes were destroyed. Yet, a month later much of Mandeville, except perhaps the street that runs along the Lake, looked like nothing hit it. Amazing. And much the credit goes to the mayor who didn’t wait for the Feds to bail out his city.
I’m sick of people talking about the Lower 9 and Lakeview. When is someone going to tell the story about the Mandeville Miracle.
Why do you think that most of the Go Zone money went to Mandeville and Baton Rouge anyway? It is because they were the quickest to recover from the horrible tragedy that we know of as Katrina.

I was the second person back in town, I cut trees off of my neighbors houses and lawns. I cut their grass while they were out of town. I helped them rough in holes in their roofs. Repair fences. I helped older folks put in window AC units to run off of their generators. I don’t think my lofty politcal goals are any concern of yours. This man is a drunk and he is a liability to the people in Mandeville. Just think if he gets in an accident and hurts or kills somebody while he’s drving his city owned vehicle. The City will be liable for giving a self proclaimed DWI individual a vehicle to use. I never said he wasn’t a good hearted person. He has proven he is but he has a problem. Talk is cheap but the talk is he just the top of the iceberg.
