Sticker shock when buying a new car isn’t so much the car itself but all of the taxes, licensing fees and other “disincentives” the State pegs on the final sale to make sure it makes a few hundred bucks. What will the State do now? Tax bikes (by the number of wheels, of course, tykes on trikes pay the most) and bus tokens?

I know a guy who works at the used car commission. He’s had two new car dealerships close and says a lot of the used car dealers are in trouble.

That should make for some good deals in the next few months.

Nope.  Don’t even think it.  Not the governor.  He has a job to do (God bless him and help keep him focused on governing and not on imposing his personal religious interpretations on the rest of us) while I’m just a moderate gadfly ... which in Louisiana they call “liberal.” --Faux Bobby Jindal

There is a commission for used cars?

Sure.  And there is a Board of Tires that regulates the purchase and disposal of used tires. Next time you buy a set of tires look at the receipt. You’ll see the fee.

Where are you from? Iowa?

They are the ones who regulate used car and trailer sales in the state.
