Just like you said.  And Tim Brando’s looking old.

Nope.  Don’t even think it.  Not the governor.  He has a job to do (God bless him and help keep him focused on governing and not on imposing his personal religious interpretations on the rest of us) while I’m just a moderate gadfly ... which in Louisiana they call “liberal.” --Faux Bobby Jindal

Well, a win is a win, even an ugly one.  Offense looked flat.  I think they should have left Perriloux in.  Defense looked great.  If they want to beat Florida, offense will have to get better.

Florida barely slipped by Ole Miss and didn’t look all that impressive. A road win in the SEC is still an accomplishment.

You had to love the look on Coach Miles face after the fake field goal.

Also, from Smiley Anders at The Advocate:

As I’m sure you were, I was shocked, shocked to learn that football fans at our flagship university are bringing alcoholic beverages to the campus and, what’s worse, consuming them in the shadows of the stately oaks, broad magnolias and inspiring halls.

But that would seem to be the case.

The sideline color commentator at the LSU-Virginia Tech game made a visit to the tailgating area to report on the festivities.

When she returned to the field, one of the guys in the broadcast booth said she didn’t seem to be enjoying tailgating as much as the LSU fans.

“I wasn’t drunk,” she responded.

And Cy Rawls, of Gonzales, happened to be in Richmond, Va., the weekend of the LSU-Virginia Tech game.

The morning after the game, Cy read Darryl Slater’s story from Baton Rouge in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, headlined “Beating in the bayou.”

Darryl wrote: “The No. 9 Hokies struggled early and lost 48-7 to No. 2 LSU before a Tiger Stadium crowd of 92,739 bourbon-soaked Cajuns.” (Italics mine.)

Disturbed about this, I asked some of my friends who attended the game, and they confirmed that both bourbon-soaked Cajuns and beer-guzzling rednecks were outside Tiger Stadium before the contest.

Just to get serious for a minute, you people might consider cooling it a bit, booze-wise.

This could be a historic season for our lads, and the emphasis should ideally be on our football, not our capacity for mind-numbing beverages.

I’d a lot rather the letters “LSU” brought to mind the nation’s finest football team than the image of some over-indulging Tiger fan being sick under a purple-and-gold tarp.
