How does this make sense?

The Democrats of the U.S. Congress, who were all elected through private ballot elections, have been trying to eliminate this very election process from the American workplace.  Normally, when a business is considered for potential unionization, a private ballot election is held and the will of the majority is effected: whether it is to join that particular union or refrain.  The Democrats now want to replace this with card-signing blitzes, whereby workers are solicited openly before union officials and their bosses, concerning their opinion.

The name of the bill?  The “Employee Free Choice Act”!  Our Senator Mary Landrieu not only approves of this bill, but has actually co-sponsored it.  This is a threat to democracy from the very people who were elected through it.

Just dug up some more interesting information.  In 2001, Senator Landrieu and several other EFCA co-sponsors wrote a letter urging labor leaders in Mexico to be SURE TO USE private ballots, stating “the secret ballot is absolutely necessary in order to ensure that workers are not intimidated into voting for a union they might not otherwise choose.”

I hope Louisiana and every state starts protesting against such hypocrisy, especially when its goal is to undermine workers in favor of big union bosses.

Please let your Senator know that this is not right, and that we won’t have it.
