"One thing is for sure, I will not bail them out on this and do their job for them. I will not veto this as it is very clear to everyone that the result would be a grinding halt to the tremendous reforms and progress our state is making. I will give them no excuse to stop doing the people’s business, and I will not allow the momentum of our state to stop over this or anything else."--Bobby Jindal

How convenient of you to forget that Iraq had 12 years to change their ways.

Maybe Bush just realized that he’s broken our military with his Iraq boondoggle and we are powerless to have any military effect on North Korea.  Appeasment was Bush’s only option here.

Because they are right next to China and South Korea, two countries we should not tick off for different reasons.

That, and North Korea has no oil reserves to extract.

Why do you think “we are powerless to have any military effect on North Korea”? Are you really that ignorant, Leon?
We can have a serious “military effect” on any country in the world without sending a single soldier out of the USA.

Once Leon and DM go read about that on the DU, they’ll get back to you on that one, Huey.

As the dimo’s would say, only the results count.  Since the dimo’s have taken control of both houses, the price of gas has doubled.. Great going nancy.

This sailed way over the ‘tard rightwingers’ heads.

You’re right.  We could always nuke them.  But for reasons that do not need to be said, this is really not an option.  Right, dan?

That then brings us back to my original point, Bush’s Iraq boondoggle limits our options, to put it mildly, with regards to using military force outside of Iraq and Afghanistan.

NO lev, it doesn’t.

How so?  Will we move divisions from Iraq/Afghanistan to confront the million man plus NK army?  Will we draft to create new divisions?  Will your children and dans children volunteer to fight?  That’s it!  Maybe we could create an entire brigade of drooling rightwing bloggers’ children.  What say you dan, fred?  Will you drive them to the recruit depot, or will you just pull out the old “he’s got asthma” canard and continue to bellow hot air on the internet?

It’s always an option Leon. That’s why we build and keep nukes.

The US currently has troops in over 100 countries around the world. In Japan there are about 35,000 US military and in South Korea we have currently around 28,500. Despite what you want us to believe, we can get a quick strike into North Korea if/when needed.

Go run this by your buddies on the DU and come back and tell us what they told you to think.
