ok so I don’t know about everyone else on here, but I am sick and tired of talking about this stupid pay raise issue. It is a dead issue. Your recall efforts won’t work, but good luck I guess. I feel like this is election season with people joining just to promote their new websites and to work one issue. Is that considered troll-like behavior? I’m pretty sure there is more news going on in LA than this. Saturday is the 4th of July, shouldn’t we all be celebrating our independence, other that bitchhing about this? We all know all of the issues surrounding it (well the ones with a brain on here do) and we all know how we feel about it. Do we really need to keep repeating it over and over and over again???

I don’t think this is an issue that is going away. You are correct about the recall efforts not working, but at least the efforts will keep the issue of accountability in the news.

Uh...Saturday is the 4th of July ?

Think of it this way - it’s citizen democracy at its finest. Elections are over three years away, so reminding incumbents who their boss is couldn’t hurt.

As to the recall efforts working or not, well, each district is it’s own story. But I’ve not in my memory seen so many legislators being the target of recalls as I’ve seen in the last month.

Yes Saturday is the 4th of July, but I know there are parades tonight, tomorrow and Saturday. I think we should be celebrating that we have a democracy, insteading of complaining about things we can’t change.

I don’t think the issue is going away, but make them accountable when they run for office again. I think we need to stop thinking about ourselves and start thinking about all of those still fighting for us overseas. This is their weekend, and a weekend to remember all of those that came before them.

And don’t forget the cool fireworks. I need to get a new calendar.

Gee, Venus, I guess I’ve got that same faulty calendar you have--my calendar has July 4 on Friday this year.

The sooner we forget the sooner the legislature and gov will do it to us again.  It will be a long time before I forget this one.

please check your day for the 4th. Friday, not Saturday.

In any even the pay raise issue is not going away because it so perfectly fits what too many legislators and elected officials and their appointees think: “what’s in it for me?”

But we should do what we can to protect our soldiers overseas from having to pay taxes for the legislators enormous pay raise.

It’s patriotic to openly oppose their votes and ask that they be removed from office.

We are carrying on our predecessors’ fight against corruption and malfeasance in public office.

Please join our effort to show the way to Foil and the others that voted for the raise.

Sorry I got my days mixed up...it happens. No I do not work at the Capitol and no I am not related to any legislators.

We are a republic, not a democracy.

The 4th is about saying no to England. It is about commemorating the adaptation of the Colonial Congress’s, Declaration of Independence that formed because of separation do to taxation without representation from the king of England.  Eventually the Revolutionay war came.  The founding father’s took action, not just sitting around complaining

This is what many people celebrate.

I think you have Independence Day a bit confused with Veterans Day.

Bo,

You were in the payraise threads repeatedly saying how you were tired of reading about recalls or us talking about it..  I told you to read elsewhere if you did not like it.  Then you start a topic “The pay raise issue is over”.  Then you start talking about it all over.  Them comes a unique opinion about the 4th of July.

To me it appears that you might be a pot stirer.

I am not feeding into this anymore.  And I will not post of this topic again.

Troll like behavior is posting a thread to try and dictate to people what they can and cannot post and to complain about it. You aren’t even trying to mask your bias. Go back under the bridge troll.

Seems like it would be disgusting by anyone to forget about the pay raise issue and the recall drives are a constant reminder to not only people but to the scum bags in office who voted for it. I hope the efforts to recall continue.
