Just before Putin seized Russian oil giant Yukos, Putin spoke of how Russia needed to “partner” with Yukos. Now we hear Jindal imitating the Russian leader in using every opportunity he has to say that Baton Rouge wants to “partner” with business. I’m sure that the one thing that CEO’s in Baton Rouge share with CEO’s in Moscow, the one thing that transends language and alphabet, is that those CEO’s see government not as a partner but as an obstacle to business. And that the only thing that business and government can be partners in is crime.

He said he is offering the automaker incentives, including cash, to make the Shreveport facility viable.

Jindal said GM spent more than $1 billion on the Shreveport plant before gas prices soared.

“There is certainly a good opportunity for us to partner with GM and expand the investment,” he said.

Jindal “targeting” sick auto industry:

LED has issued a Request for Proposals to hire or contract with an expert in the automotive field to help the state secure a manufacturer to locate in the state, possibly in the Franklin Farms Industrial Megasite in northeast Louisiana, and to help GM.

LED is interested in “increasing the competitiveness of Louisiana” when manufacturers are looking for locations for new plants, he said.

Jindal said the state has “talked with multiple auto manufacturers,” focusing on the Franklin Parish site.

“We need to target this industry,” he said. “This is a time of change in the auto industry. All manufacturers are making big changes.”

Toyota already has changed its plans for the type of vehicle it would produce at a planned Mississippi facility, Jindal said. While they are losing billions of dollars in sales, “they’re investing billions of dollars” in manufacturing shifts to more fuel-efficient vehicles.

“We need to make Louisiana the most attractive place to invest,” he said.

GM to Stay but will not rehire the laid off employees

Seems Bobby and Steven have targeted these sick autos companies for maximum corporate welfare. I wonder how much they would give Chrysler?

(If we give Moret another $100000 will he stay home and unplug his phone??? We would be much better off.)

(10-1 the proposed expert is an “acquaintance” of someone near either Jindal or Moret---maybe a contributor or friend of a contributor??)
