Michelle, he is only echoing the character of our society that people especially int he DEEP South want to hold onto so dearly, like their “Guns” and their “Bibles.”

So Bill you’re willing to give up your religion and your gun for Obama?

I love the Obama commercials on the radio with him talking about how we need to stand together.  The short term memory loss should be a concern for all.  It was okay for the Democrats to stand against Bush and criticze him his every move.  Now we all have to stand together because it’s Him.  Forget how we treated Bush that’s old news.  Today is a new day.

I doubt seriously Obama will take either of these away, so it is a non issue.  My point is that these Freedoms, just like the Freedom to Choose have nothing to do with health care, the economy, social security, or the war on Terrorism.  It is absurd to vote for a president of the United States based on these Moral Issues.  The militia was last used prior to the establishment of the National Guard.  At least, if you want the right to have a guns or “many guns” in your house at least base this right on a more up to date reference than the right to be part of the militia.  As far as the freedom of religion, that will not be taken away, but you may see more of the way it was supposed, Separation of Religion and State, which is not the case now with TAX exempt faith based organization receiving federal funds to operation their programs.  This IMO is wrong.  Also as I have pointed out on this forum many times, it is equally wrong to continue to ignore the common sense reality that we could save billions of dollars by vigorously enforcing the death penalty, just like our forefathers did.  But, we seem to forget that part of history, just so we can emphasize our updated outlook toward these kinds of subjects.  Making abortion illegal would put us into even more debt because we can’t afford to care for the single mothers and their kids now, how are we going to do it if there are no abortions.  Do you really think that a young single mother can go to college and obtain a degree to be able to work the job that will pay for transportation, housing, food and child care?  If you do you are wrong.  Only 7 percent of young single mothers go on to obtain a college degree, and most young marriages end up in failure, just as more than half of the marriages in the United State do.

Bush and his cabinet of liars, got what they deserved, and the “state of the union” is the proof.

BTW, why is Sunday the Sabbath, rather the Saturday, the day it is supposed to be according to the Bible?  Opps!

No joke, you can no more tell me why they pull out in front of you or exactly what the Founding Fathers were thinking when they wrote the second amendment.  For someone to even try to explain some 200 years later is ludicrous.  They don’t have a clue and they’re only trying to pacify themselves pushing their beliefs on others.  All this time the term, “The right to bear Arms” means exactly that.  If you choose not to own a firearm that’s your choice.  One part of the many freedoms Americans died for.  “Those who give up their liberty for more security neither deserve liberty nor security.” Maybe there’s a spin on this too I don’t know but I take it literally.  I’m just one person out of 50 million plus voters who didn’t vote for Obama.  Before I stand by him or anybody they’ll have to prove themselves.

Bill2008:  Apparently you do not read history Tony G, or what you read you put into your own personal context.  I think you will find that the Militia was needed to compensate for the lack of security in our nation 200 years ago and beyond that.

Now we have government Sheriffs and Policeman, not to mention the National Guard which is considered by many to replace the need for a Militia.  Show or tell me about One American that Died for the Right (specifically) to Bear Arms.  You are apparently taking all freedoms together and calling them the “Right to Bear Arms” when that is not the case.  It is just more of the smoke and mirrors act that you can pawn off on some of the Americans, but NOT the MAJORITY of Americans as this election has PROVEN.  I certainly understand the concept of patriotism as I volunteered to join the military at a time of war and stay on to be significantly involved with a second war (the Mid East WAR) until the end of 1991.  Apparently you agree with me about abortion, and the argument that perhaps our definition of the rights of a naturally born person may need some work, just like the work that was done to change the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday.  Or did God speak to someone to tell them that it was okay to change it?  BTW who put “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance?  Was it our Forefathers, or did we just think that they would have wanted it in there and forgot to do it?  Or perhaps it was a Republican President that wanted to make some people happy?  Then again, those words for some reason are not contained in the National Anthem.  Can you imagine why?

Similarly, Federalist Noah Webster wrote:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

If I have a gun bill2008 and you have one, we’re to some extent equal.  I take your gun away I can have my way.  You’re reading it one way, yes, there are no more militias.  It does not say when the militias are no longer needed citizens needs to bear arms will fade away too.

As far as abortion in my minds eye no man and I emphasize man as a male has the right restrict a womans right to choice.  You’re legislating morality.  Each person will stand before God on judgement day and answer for your sins.  IT’s easy to say to another man that it’s against the law for your wife to have an abortion even though she has been a victim of a brutal crime.  She has to live the next nine months with the painful reminder of what happened.  When the shoe is on the other foot the decision might not be so easy to make.  Therefore before I would further make a woman suffer I would offer her a choice and back her decision knowing our God is a forgiving God and treats us all as individuals.  HE gives us what we can handle and that dosage is different for everyone.  We are accountable.  Now if you ask me if I think it’s a good tool as birth control I will infatically reply NO.  that’s my belief but here again we will all answer for our deeds.

One final note, we’re beating this thing to death. Watch Obama, he made a lot of promises on the trail.  If he doesn’t keep them he’ll be a liar just like you claim Bush is.

Perhaps you are right, we are beating this to death, yet I must ask you if you and our forefathers knew/know the difference between the use of a comma (,) and a semi-colon (;).  Now read the sentence again that you quoted:  “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

A semi-colon is used in a sentence to separate two independent thoughts, a comma in only a pause in a single thought.  I think that they used a (,) comma, so therefore the two are the same thought i.e. militia and right to bear arms.  Prove me wrong Mr. Tony.

On abortion Tony G. Said:  “Therefore before I would further make a woman suffer I would offer her a choice and back her decision knowing our God is a forgiving God and treats us all as individuals.  HE gives us what we can handle and that dosage is different for everyone.  We are accountable.  Now if you ask me if I think it’s a good tool as birth control I will infatically reply NO.  that’s my belief but here again we will all answer for our deeds. “

Bill2008:  I think this means you agree with me right?  GREAT NEWS!

Lastly Bill2008 says:

Making promises, that I can not or do not keep is one thing.  Making up the rationale to send our troops to war is quite another.  Bush allowed his integrity to be compromised.  This is not the same as failing to live up to campaign promises, for what ever reason.

Again I say to you, if we both have rifles and I take yours away you’ll do whatever I want.  Or you’ll pay the ultimate price.  My advice to you is if you interpet the 2nd amendment as meaning Americans disarm since there are no more need for militias turn your gun into the local police station.  Do what you believe is your constitutional duty.  I’ll do what I believe mine is.  We can argue until the cows come home.  If there comes a day when somebody knocks on my door demanding my firearms I have a decision to make.  It is my belief it fall under the scenario “pay me now or PAY me later” either way I’m going to lose.  It’s just a matter of when.

bill you lined up for one of the Civilain Security Force jobs?

In Munich in late 1920, Hitler created the Ordnertruppen, a body of ex-soldiers and beer hall brawlers in order to protect gatherings of the #### party from disruptions from Social Democrats and Communists.

I guess the modern day version would end the sentence eliminating Social Democrats and Communist with Republicans and Conservatives alike.

Lincoln. Yes he and his republican party freed the slaves… The dimocrats fought it tooth and nail, then formed the KKK.

And in 1964 all the racist dems jumped ship and joined the republican party, where they continue to ply their trade.

Like Robert KKK Byrd?

Not every racist Democrat became a Republican.  That doesn’t change the fact that the GOP ascended to relevance through a racist “Southern strategy” in the wake of the Civil Rights movement.  Hey, why take the chance trying to explain fiscal conservatism to a redneck when the GOP could just say “Democrats are ###### lovers” at get the desired result - Republican votes - faster and with less effort.  The result today is a Republican party that is 98% white, restricted to the South and midwest, dependent on fundamental Christianity as a unifying force, and unequivocally anti-intellectual.

The irony is that had they not taken the easy road back then they would still be relevant today, as opposed to being a regional party for the foreseeable future.
