[QUOTE=Eiszaphen]This is not 100%, but it seems many are speaking out about how they “fear” for America. Exactly what is it they fear? Do they think Christians and Republicans are going away if John Kerry wins? And what is it about Christians and Republicans that sets them to trembling in their boots? Many of the people who are speaking out are not ordinary Americans.
I have wondered the same thing and have some ideas of my own.
First, if you look at the educational background of most of the Hollywood elite, you will find that high school was a far as they got. They were never exposed to the greater world of ideas that college (especially a liberal education) gives one. They are mostly high school drop-outs. Second, having done some acting in college, I found that most fellow actors were of the “feely, touchy, emotional, etc.” type. They rely on their emotions - as most actors must do if they are to be successful - rather than using logic to reason through a problem (as do engineers - but that is at the other end of the graph). Those types believe that if we just talk to our enemies and show how much we love them and want to help, and join hands and sing kumbaya, everything will be OK. It is an emotional thing and they are not equipped by education (history, philosophy, etc.) to think critically and logically. And, then they find themselves “famous” and the press and their adoring public hang on every word, and - voila! - they are experts on all things. It becomes an ego trip and they love expounding their thoughts on everything from marriage, sex, politics, diets, etc. - and their adoring public and the press hang on every word. I love the old trick of having an actor/actress that has played a particular part, being asked to testify before a Senate committee about the subject that was the theme of the movie - about which the witness has absolutely no expertise except playing a part in a movie!
