New Orleans Times-Picayune’s Brown reports, ex-St. John the Baptist Parich Council member Perry Bailey, “describes himself as a ‘true Democrat’ eager to see his party regain control of the White House and Congress.” He was “suprised” to find “he had been named as a backer” of son of Rep. Billy Tauzin (R)/ telecommunications exec Billy Tauzin III (R). Bailey: “I didn’t endorse anybody. I’ve got a lot of followers and a lot of constituents, and I don’t want anybody to use my name unjustly.”
Tauzin’s camp “blamed” the mix-up on Bailey’s name and “that of his brother, Wilton ‘Boobie’ Bailey.” Tauzin spokesperson Matt Gresham: “It looks like it was an honest mistake. It was actually his brother.” But Wilton Bailey said that though he’d been “working with the Tauzin campaign,” he “has yet to make a formal endorsement.
